Las Vegas Smash Triumphs Over Cancun Waves to Win Historic, Inaugural Season and the PPL Cup

On Sunday, the Pro Padel League held the Championship Match for their historic, inaugural season with stars like Daddy Yankee coming out to watch the exhilarating action at the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis & Wellness Center.

Taking stadium court was the League’s two best teams of the season – the Cancun Waves and the Las Vegas Smash – who advanced to the finals after the semifinal wins on Saturday. Bringing the heat, Las Vegas’ women’s doubles team not only won the first point of the match, but the first match defeating Cancun in a three-set thriller 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.  Following the women, the men’s doubles showdown displayed power and finesse with many games being decided by the golden point. Eventually, it was Las Vegas who pulled out a close two-set match 7-5, 7-6, to capture the men’s doubles match and overall team win for Las Vegas.

In an epic ending to what has been an incredible season of action, drama, and Padel being played at the highest level, the Las Vegas Smash rushed the court to celebrate their historic victory.

Shortly following their win on Sunday, the Las Vegas Smash were presented the PPL Cup by League Commissioner, Marcos del Pilar, and Co-Founder, Keith Stein, in the awards presentation ceremony.  Additionally, the League also awarded one male, and one female, player as MVP of the season. This year’s MVPs were Nico Agritelly of the Arkansas Matrix and Ana Paula De La Pena of the Las Vegas Smash.
